What Is Palo Santo?

Bursera graveolens, known in Spanish as palo santo, is a wild tree native from the Yucatán Peninsula to Peru and Venezuela. Bursera graveolens is found in the seasonally dry tropical forests of Peru, Venezuela, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, and on the Galápagos Islands.

Palo Santo (Burseara Graveolens) or "Holy Wood" is a tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal.
It is an aromatic wood used for centuries by the Incas and other cultures as a spiritual remedy. Used for incense and smudging it creates a pleasant, fresh smelling smoke with hints of mint and citrus with underlying notes of frankincense. Thought to purge bad spirits, it is also said that it enhances creativity and brings good fortune.

Please note: size of sticks may vary between 3.5" to 4.5".

Peruvians harvest fallen branches and twigs of the B. graveolens tree, a practice that is regulated by the government of Peru, so trees are not cut for wood harvesting.

I once again experienced ultimate satisfaction; when purchasing a second bundle, of NL Palo Santo. Najaam Lee's Healing Shop's distribution of Palo Santo, is derived origionally from Peru. As a result, when ordering and purchasing Palo Santo directly from Najaam's Lee's Healing Shop, I was able to detect that my Polo Santo sticks, were genuine. Hence, I did not experience extreme difficulty igniting the sticks. Once my Polo Santo sticks are ignited, the sacred aroma plays a tremendous role in re-establish peace and balance, within my atmosphere (warding off negative energy).
